Options Explained

• Material (Wood) — the solid, USA-grown hardwood your frame is built from.
  
  Oak — light golden tone with bold open grain; very hard and our most affordable. Bright, natural look.
  Maple — pale and creamy with a fine grain; the hardest of the four. Clean and minimalist.
  Cherry — warm reddish-brown that deepens beautifully with age; smooth and slightly softer.
  Walnut — rich dark chocolate with lighter streaks; our most premium, striking look.
  
  
• Finish — a surface treatment that protects the wood and brings out its grain (about protection and look, not colour).
  
  No Finish — raw, unsealed wood. Best if you're chemically sensitive or plan to finish it yourself; offers the least protection.
  Natural Linseed Oil & Beeswax — non-toxic; seals and protects with a soft matte glow. Our recommended everyday finish.
  Teak Oil — a deeper, warmer tone with slightly richer protection and enhanced grain.
  
  
• Mattress Thickness — tells us your mattress height so we set the frame gap for a proper fit (mattress sits neither too high nor too low).
  
  Thin (6–8 in.) — for slim mattresses.
  Standard (9–11 in.) — fits most modern mattresses (default).
  Thick (12–14 in.) — for thicker mattresses.
  Extra Thick (15+ in.) — for very thick mattresses, or a mattress with a boxspring.
  
  
• Platform Height — how high the slat base sits from the floor, i.e. your overall bed height.
  
  Lift (15.5 in.) — higher; easier to get in and out, with more under-bed storage.
  Standard (12.5 in.) — balanced, all-round height (default).
  Drop (9.5 in.) — low profile, close to the floor; best for a minimalist, Japanese-style look, as traditional Japanese beds sit low.
  
  
• Support Slat Spacing — the gap between the slats that support your mattress; closer spacing means firmer, more even support.
  
  Standard 3 in. — ample support for innerspring and hybrid mattresses.
  1.5 in. — closer spacing for extra support.
  0.25 in. — densest support; recommended for foam and memory-foam mattresses (many require slats no more than 3 in. apart, often to keep the warranty valid) and to prevent sagging.
  
  
• Crafting Time — how quickly we build and ship your made-to-order bed.
  
  Standard — ships in ~15 business days.
  Rush — ships in ~10 business days.
  Double Rush — ships in ~5 business days.

Cancellations

You may cancel your Dapwood order within 72 hours of placing it, subject to a 10% fee (production often begins the same day). After 72 hours, orders can no longer be cancelled and the Returns terms below apply.

Returns

Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery. Items must be in new, unused condition and in their original (or equivalent) packaging. A Return Authorization (RMA) is required before sending anything back — contact support@japancoo.com to request one, and make sure the RMA number is clearly visible on the outside of the package.

Defective Items or Our Error

We issue a full refund and cover the return shipping.

All Other (Change-of-Mind) Returns

The customer covers return shipping and a 30% restocking fee applies. These are the manufacturer's terms for handcrafted, made-to-order furniture.

Custom Orders

Customized pieces (for example, custom heights or dimensions) are non-returnable. Those products will be marked clearly.

Damaged in Transit

Inspect your package on delivery and note any damage when signing. Email photos of the damage, packaging, and order number (#XXXX) to support@japancoo.com within 48 hours of delivery so we can file a claim.

Warranty

10-year manufacturer warranty covering materials and workmanship for the original owner (coverage begins when the item ships). Natural characteristics of solid wood — grain and colour variation, knots, mineral streaks, and natural darkening over time — are not defects and are not covered.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method, typically within 7 business days of approval.
